30 Day Get Healthy Challenge, Day 29

Gibsonia ChiropractorThis simple tip might seem a little elementary, but all too often we tend to ignore the little cues we get from our bodies.

Our busy lifestyles seem to pull us in 20 different directions at once and demand that we keep pushing forward without restraint.  But doing so when your body’s innate wisdom is telling you otherwise can quickly result in injury or illness.

Is Today a Slow Day or a Go Day?

Pay close attention to the way you are feeling.  Not just physically, but emotionally as well.  You’ll learn when you are able to push yourself and when you should lay back a little.  If you are having a down day that doesn’t mean you can’t still work out, but you might not want to shoot for a record lift or your fastest 5K time.

Your Posture is Talking

Isn’t it interesting how you’ll find certain positions and postures that your body just seems to gravitate toward?  You might sleep with one arm above your head or always sit leaning to one side.  Usually you are instinctively trying to find balance or relief.  This is a great clue that you need some work on your structural alignment or range of motion.

Hi, It’s Your Pain.  Are You Still Ignoring Me?

People tell me all the time that they have a high pain tolerance.  While I don’t like to see anyone in pain, a little signal from your body at the onset of a problem should be all the warning you need to take corrective action.  Pushing through the pain can sometimes be like ignoring a fire alarm.  The longer you delay, the worse the damage becomes.

Your body is self healing and self regulating.  It can turn Frankenfoods into bone and hair and muscle.  It continues to stand up the abuse that you throw at it.  It’s pretty darn smart.  It’s time to start listening to it.
