I’ll bet if you thought about it you could break down a typical week’s worth of meals into about 1/2 dozen or so foods that you eat over and over again. We are all creatures of habit, and often times our meals become nothing more than another step on the staircase of our day, as morning blurs into night.
Take the time this week to purposefully think about what you’re eating, and add some variety to your diet. There is a beautiful world of colorful fruits and vegetables out there waiting for you.
Instead of your typical corn and beans, try some Swiss chard, bok choy, rhubarb, eggplant, radishes, beets, yellow squash, or purple carrots.
Adding color to your fruits is super easy. Choose from blueberries, mangoes, pineapple, pomegranates, figs, papaya, cranberries, etc.
Bright, colorful fruits and veggies are rich in a wide variety of micro-nutrients. To cover all your nutritional bases, be sure to choose plenty of foods spanning a wide range of colors.
Adding color to your diet not only makes for a healthier body, but also a more beautiful plate. Who knows, you might even take the time to slow down and taste your food this week!
