It’s been said that your mind is like a muscle. The more you use it, the stronger it gets. Well just like a muscle, if you don’t give your mind the proper rest it needs, you might experience some burnout.
We are all victims of sensory overload nowadays. Is seems that everywhere we turn we are hit with bright digital images, an entire spectrum of engineered sounds, endless texts, emails, conversations, and notifications.
Your challenge is to make a clean break. At least for a little while. Get away from everything and give your mind and body a rest. Put the peripheral sounds on mute and tune into your inner music. You don’t need to be practiced in meditation, you just need to get your mind quiet. Even just 15 minutes per day of pure solitude can go a long way toward resetting your emotions and reducing stress.
You will be amazed at what can happen when you get yourself alone and away from everything. Some might experience a flood of brilliant thoughts or ideas. Others might feel an overwhelming sense of emotional release.
The point is to pry yourself away from the day’s “urgent” demands and get back in touch with your body. You just might get to know yourself again.
